CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Approximately 100,000 active patients have Riata or Riata ST ICD leads in the U.S. These leads have exhibited externalized cables whereby the cables appear outside the lead body on fluoroscopy. Leads with externalized cables may be functioning normally and electrically intact, or there may be signs of noise, oversensing, or threshold or impedance changes. Therefore it is not clear how patients with these leads should be managed. An independent multicenter study is underway and data should be available by the end of 2011.

The purpose of this one-day Riata ICD Lead Summit is to review the available data and develop a consensus regarding patient management, including follow-up and approaches to leads that have failed and require replacement.
